What is the iDRIVE? Graham Cahill from 4WD Action gives you the lowdown. IDRIVE WindBooster Electronic Throttle Controller. Suitable for all Holden Commodore VE Series, 2006 – 2013. Fits all Variants, 3lt & 3.6lt V6, 6lt & 6.2lt V8, Sedan, Ute, Wagon, Statesman, Caprice & HSV. The iDRIVE is also designed to work in conjunction with a custom tune/chip, so even if you decide to get a tune or chip youll only be getting even more out of it! Rather than a traditional accelerator cable, many modern vehicles use “fly by wire” throttle technology. This system relies on a sensor that measures the pedal pressure and position which then sends a signal to the vehicle’s engine computer which converts to acceleration. Most fly by wire systems have a noticeable delay. IDRIVE allows you to tune the signal from the accelerator pedal with multiple inbuilt settings to ensure you find a setting to perfectly suit your driving style. Other awesome benefits include. IDRIVE includes an automatic control function that automatically changes the level of throttle performance based on pedal pressure. So, if you’re in traffic and accelerating gently, the iDRIVE will automatically select setting 1. If you are accelerating hard to overtake, towing a heavy trailer, or just having fun the iDRIVE will automatically select 9 for you. The result is the smoothest and most intelligent aftermarket control module on the market. IDRIVE allows you to tune the signal from the accelerator pedal with multiple inbuilt settings to ensure you find the perfect setting for your driving style. Eco Mode: ECO Mode is designed for fuel economy by reducing the accelerator response time. Also handy for when you are on offroad trails and looking for a bit more throttle control when crawling. Ultimate Mode: Ultimate Mode offers 9 sensitivity levels; this allows the driver to tune the controller to the desired level of sensitivity. Choose level 9 and grip the steering wheel tight or hit level 1 for a gentle smooth acceleration. AC Mode: Automatic Control Mode automatically selects the sensitivity level based on pedal pressure. If you are in traffic and accelerating gently the iDRIVE will automatically choose a reduced level of throttle response. The iDRIVE Throttle Controller modifies the voltage signal from the fly by wire pedal assembly to allow you to tune the response from your accelerator pedal. No, iDRIVE Throttle Controller does not increase power output. The iDRIVE has no control over fuel mapping, air to fuel ratio or injection timing. The iDRIVE simply changes the way your throttle responds, eliminating any lags or delays in the throttle system and sharpening response. It essentially gets rid of the feeling that theres a big wet sponge sitting underneath the accelerator pedal of most modern cars with the fly by wire system. Is iDRIVE suitable for Towing? The iDRIVE Throttle Controller is very useful for towing as it helps get your vehicle up to speed from a standing start while using less pedal effort, placing less strain on your motor and using less fuel. Especially handy around town where there is a lot of stopping and starting. Is iDRIVE hard to install? The iDRIVE Throttle Controller can be installed in under 2 minutes with no tools or technical knowledge required in the vast majority of vehicles. Is iDRIVE universal or vehicle specific? Although every iDRIVE Throttle Controller shares the same main hardware, each iDRIVE is specifically programmed to each vehicle, meaning they are not transferable across makes and models. IDRIVE Throttle Controller is suited to both manual and automatic transmissions. Is iDRIVE suitable for diesel or petrol vehicles? The iDRIVE Throttle Controller can be used on both naturally aspirated and forced induction Petrol and Diesel engines. Can’t I just press the accelerator down faster to replicate the same response? IDRIVE Throttle Controller works in 2 ways. When you first depress the pedal there is what is referred to as a dead zone where there is very little response. No matter how hard or fast you hit the pedal you can’t overcome this. The iDRIVE converts this signal to action, greatly reducing this dead zone. The second part is opening the throttle earlier in the pedal stroke, in theory, you might be able to replicate this by pressing the pedal faster and harder, but in practice, you can’t. Will iDRIVE work with other modifications? Aftermarket Cruise Control: Yes, we have not seen an aftermarket cruise control that won’t work with an iDRIVE including units that plug directly into the fly by wire system. ECU Tune / Re-flash: Yes, the iDRIVE Throttle Controller can still be used after an ECU tune/reflash. In most instances, tuners don’t change throttle parameters. Even when throttle parameters are changed the adjustability of throttle response that the iDRIVE provides can still be quite useful. Power Chips / Exhaust: Yes, Power chips and upgraded exhaust system work on a different part of the car so an iDRIVE will only complement the positive effects of chips and exhausts. IDRIVE Australia has performed extensive testing to ensure a correctly fitted iDRIVE will not damage your vehicle. The same cannot be said with a custom tune or chip, which is why we here at Tuff Car Parts much prefer theiDRIVE for the performance gains it delivers – and at a fraction of the cost. My iDRIVE doesn’t turn off? IDRIVE throttle controllers don’t require their own power source, making installation a breeze. They rely on power from the accelerator pedal. In many vehicles, when power to the ignition is cut many accessories take some time to power down. You may find it can take 30 seconds before your iDRIVE turns off. It may also turn off during periods of inactivity such as when cruise control is in operation. Simply touching the accelerator will instantly turn it on. IDRIVE Australia warrants the iDRIVE Throttle Controller against performance deficiencies (on standard engines in good working order), defects in material and poor workmanship under normal use for the lifetime of its use to the original owner. IDRIVE Australia, at its discretion, shall adjust, repair or replace the defective iDRIVE Throttle Controller component/s as necessary. Unplug the connector plugged into the accelerator pedal assembly. Plug the iDRIVE connector into the vehicles accelerator pedal. Be cautious not to force into position as this may result in bent pins in the plug. IDRIVE connector should fit easily into position. Although in most cases removing the accelerator pedal from the firewall is not required, this may be required for easier fitment. Re-fit connector into the iDRIVE. Using cable ties supplied, securely mount the iDRIVE cable in a position that will not affect the operation of the pedals. Mount the control module on the dash in a position that is easy to access. Melling 18% Higher Volume LS Oil Pump Suitable for VT VX VY VZ VE VF Holden Commodore & HSV LS1 LS2 LS3 L98 V8. Melling Select Performance has been manufacturing and providing cutting edge performance engine parts for over 65 years. One of the most trusted names in the business, this is a direct high volume replacement for your factory oil pump. The Melling M295HV oil pump is a high pressure, high volume oil pump that offers improved resistance against cavitation at higher RPMs. The cast aluminum housing is CNC-machined and hardcoat anodized. The cast iron cover is CNC-machined and phosphate coated. The relief valve features a screw-in valve plug. The factory LS oil pump suffers from cavitation above 6,200 RPM, which results in a drop in oil flow of nearly 1 GPM by 7,000 RPM. This cavitation can also aerate the oil, which causes drops in oil pressure and can result in oil starvation. This is why we do not recommend shifting any higher than 6,200 RPM with a stock oil pump. Engines that run at RPM’s above 6,200 should use an upgraded Melling pump to prevent these issues. The pumps are built using a proprietary casting process, which yields maximum performance and reliability. Every Melling oil pump is completely pressure-tested, including idle and bypass pressure, before it leaves the factory. This makes the Melling high volume oil pump a perfect addition to any camshaft upgrade or simply as a serviceable replacement – all whilst remaining incredibly cost effective and very simple to install. Issues often become apparent when removing your old oil pump when working on your engine. Remove this risk and replace your worn out unit with this high quality high volume oil pump and feel assured your engine is getting the oil it needs for many years to come. This oil pump also includes 2 pick-up O-rings. The thicker green O-ring is to be used on a pick-up tube that has a recess in it for a captured O-ring seal, whereas the black O-ring is suitable for a more traditional style pick-up tube. Both are included to ensure you have the correct seal for your application. Melling High Volume LS Oil Pump. High volume oil pump 18% more volume over stock. 43 PSI Pressure Relief Valve Spring. The cast aluminum housing is CNC machined and hardcoat anodized. The cast iron cover is CNC machined and phosphate coated. The cover also features countersunk screws for more timing cover clearance. The relief valve features a screw in valve plug. 1.14 Displ (cuin/rev). Can improve low oil pressure in high milage engines. Can lessen excessive valve train noise. Fits all VT VX VY VZ VE VF Holden Commodore & HSV LS1 LS2 LS3 L98 V8 engines. Supplied complete with O-ring. Suitable for VT VX VY VZ VE VF Holden Commodore & HSV LS1 LS2 LS3 L98 V8 engines.
